Disappointing, and not particularly like Romeo and Juliet  |

I read this book because I thought it might be as romantic as Romeo and Juliet, but it was a little disappointing. The author refers a bit too much to the Romeo and Juliet parallel, when actually there is very little that echoes Shakespeares play apart from the characters names. The characters feel under-developed, and the potentially most romantic moments were talked about after the event - like the lovers first meeting, which Romiette writes in her diary about, rather than the author showing how it actually happened - which became annoying. There seemed to be lots of repititious episodes, which got a bit preachy. However, I did feel compelled to finish the book, and found the ending quite exciting.
