Brilliant performances by Williams and Dench |
I missed this show when it was first shown in Australia in the early 80s, but was lucky enough to catch up with it on cable TV (thank goodness for re-runs - in this case!). With actors of the calibre of Michael Williams and Judi Dench and great writing by Bob Larbey (writer of As Time Goes By and many other series), expect first rate entertainment. The supporting cast are equally as good. The chemistry between MW and JD is wonderful. It is extremely high quality TV. If only more episodes had been made ...

History of the Jersey Lily |
I first saw this programme when it was first broadcast during the late 1970s and now welcome the video release. It is superbly acted throughout with Francesca Annis being her usual professional self. Well researched and produced. The story of how Lily Langtry became part of the social set of the then Prince of Wales and remained close to him even as King Edward VII, this production could never be bettered. It may seem by some that some actors may be overacting at times, but there is a genuine feel for the late Victorian and Edwardian era when men were men, and ladies were, well ladies. Worth seeing.

A very good and charming film |
Having been a fan of Olivia Newton johns for a number of years, it was lovely to see her act with her daughter Cloe and such lovely film to watch especially around Christmas time.
